Same tune, different story

Warning: Pathetic sob story ahead!

Yeah, I'm sad.
Again.
And of course...
it's because my fave five Beantown boys,
NKOTB,
are doing another awesome show
for their fans...
and I can't afford it!

Now, I have to back up for a second and say...
I don't regret the fact that I'm in graduate school.
I am pursuing my Master's in Secondary English Education.
Yes, I'm going to be a
high school English teacher.

And I couldn't be more excited about that!
I can't wait to
work with students and help them grow into
great readers, writers, and thinkers.

In fact, right now I'm student teaching!
I even taught my very first actual lesson yesterday!
It was amazing.
I can't wait to do more!

But... because I'm student teaching,
I have to really pinch pennies right now.
See, I don't get paid to student teach.
Besides that,
I have to student teach all day, every day...
So I had to quit my full-time job.

Again, I'm not trying to make you feel sorry for me.
Just venting!

And also, of course...
Trying to think of a creative way to get to NYC
on June 18, 2010
to see my boys play Radio City Music Hall!

Maybe another Jordan contest?!

Or maybe, finally, DANNY will do a contest!

(Yeah, that's me LAST JUNE in ATL with Danny!)

Or maybe Ellen will finally answer all my cries for help...
and maybe she won't only send me to see NKOTB...
Maybe she'll actually go with me!

So, this is me....
dancing in the aisles at Radio City...
with Ellen.
(Just imagine the music in the background is
Summertime or Dirty Dancing or something...
Or maybe even old school....
Hangin' Tough!)
Enjoy!

NKOTB, Can You Hear Me?!

Good morning,
fellow BLOCKHEADS

So, I started off my day with a quote by Dr. Wayne Dyer in my head...
"Anything you really want, you can attain,
if you really go after it."
See, that's how I feel about this crazy quest to meet NKOTB...

And, I don't know about anyone else,
but I didn't even go on the cruise
and I feel like I've got a cruise hangover...
Thanks to all my TWEEPS for hooking us up with videos & pictures!

Anyway...
So, my two new Blockhead pals, M&M
(check out their blog at http://insearchofnkotb.blogspot.com/)
were kind enough to let my crazy self
mail them a gift for the guys to take on the CRUISE!
(Like Dr. Dyer said...
"really go after it!" Right?)
And they delivered!

So my question is for the guys of NKOTB...
Hey guys!
Did you get my gift!?!
Did you like it?!

Here's what I sent.

First, I made some new & improved NKOTB trading cards....
Then, I made an envelope to hold them...
(Yeah, that's right...
"NKOTB Trading Cards, Version 2.0: The Grown Man Series!)

Then, I put it all together with a folder full of
excerpts from this blog!
So, look...
I understand that I am by no means the one and only
creative Blockhead
out there...
I know we all love the guys and want to meet them
and thank them in person for
ending our 15-year NKOTB drought....

But I also know that Blockheads support each other!
We want the best for one another!
(Just like my girls M&M, when they took my
crazy home-made gift aboard S.S. NKOTB with them!)

So... if ya feel me
and you wanna try to help these GROWN MEN notice...
are all on Twitter
Click the links above and hit 'em up to
check out this blog!

And leave a comment on here, too!
They'll see your words of love at the same time!
Thanks to all!

And NKOTB...
see ya in ATL 6/4!

(In case you didn't see... here is where I'll be....
Section 103, Row T!)
(Yes, in
red it says...
We Want FACETIME!)

Happy Birthday to Jordan!

So, even though I've more recently been boarding
the Danny Train,
I still hold a special place in my heart for my
first true love (haha!),
Mr. Jordan Knight!

So, let's take a moment to celebrate
the birth of this sexy man
on May 17, 1970!
Happy Birthday, Jordan!

We know you're livin' it up on the
S.S. NKOTB
with thousands of crazed fans,
so we know you'll have a great party!

But for those of us that
weren't lucky enough to go cruisin',
(it's ok, Ellen, I ain't mad atcha...
but I'm still hoping you can help us in some way... hint, hint)
let's all take a moment to
give Mr. Knight some birthday love!

You guys did great with the comments for Danny,
(and I hope some of you took the time to give to Komen in his honor)
so how about we do the same for Jordan?!
So, please leave your birthday comments for Jordan
on this blog!

Happy Birthday, Jordan!

P.S. To Jordan, or any of the other Grown Men on the Block
that might be reading this right now,
my friend Leslie and I are planning on being
at the Hotlanta show on June 4,
and though we can't afford 5 star, are DYING for some Face Time in '09
See below to help you find us in the crowd.
Thank you! :)
(In case you can't see, that says "We want FACE TIME!
Right where our seats are located.
And in case you can't tell exactly where THAT is...
Section 103, Row T.
Look for us, boys!)

I've got the NKOTB canceled the only show I was going to BLUES....

I just got home from work.
So, I take a Twitter break before getting into my
Jillian Michaels workout DVD,
and notice that my fellow BLOCKHEADS are all abuzz...

What's this? I thought.
What's going on?
Maybe an exciting new contest! Yippee!

But alas, it was not.
It was not happy news at all.
Not even in the slightest.

You see, apparently today, while I was
working hard for the money (so hard for it, honey),
NKOTB.com put up an announcement that
the first week of concerts were all canceled!

Yes, that includes Birmingham, AL.
The only show we bought tickets to.

And now, any others we might consider
1) are really far away
2) are on the wrong day of the week and we can't get off work
or
3) are completely sold out.

I am devastated.
(See how SAD I am?!)

I'm hoping the NKOTB gods (or Ellen, if she's out there)
will shine down on us and help us through this!

Somebody?
Anybody?
As the blog says...
Hello... Is this thing on?
Hello?

Sigh.
Sadness.

We STILL wanna CRUISE with NKOTB!

Ok, so all of this started as a campaign to Ellen DeGeneres asking her... begging her, really...
to PLEASE send us on the cruise with NKOTB May 15-18!

Sadly, we have yet to hear from Mrs. DeGeneres.
We even took cues from her in her awesome (and successful) campaign to get George Clooney!
We branched out to Ryan Seacrest.
We hit up Jimmy Fallon.
And since Donnie (D-dub), Jon, and Joey Mac are now on Twitter....
We've been tweeting them about it too!
But if there's one thing we've learned from all these years of being tried-and-true
BLOCKHEADS,
it's that we should never ever give up!
In fact, we can find inspiration from the words of our very own Fab 5, NKOTB:
Don't give up!
Baby, baby, don't give up on me girl.
Don't give up on me baby.
Baby, don't you give up on me!
-"Don't Give Up on Me"
I also want to stress again that we are not just expecting a free handout here...
we will do ANYTHING to get on this cruise!
We will wash cars
walk your dogs
or do just about any other crazy thing
(except for whatever this guy is doing... whatever that is....)
Likewise, on the cruise, we are fully prepared to sing for our supper!
(Ok, maybe not sing... but we can dance...)
Ellen, Jimmy Fallon, Ryan Seacrest...
ANYBODY!
If you're out there, and you want to help us...
We haven't given up hope yet!
And remember...

Before there was Jonas
(or "the Jonai," as I like to refer to them)...
there was...

Well, there was Nsync.
But before all of those guys...

there was
NKOTB!
And there still IS NKOTB!
They're back and BETTER THAN EVER!

In their own words...

Back, huh, stronger than ever
Did you think we'd sever?
Never, we're too clever!
-"Games"

And did any of those OTHER clowns inspire a
Saturday morning CARTOON!?!
Yeah, that's what I thought.

So anyway...
we're still here, Ellen, and Seacrest, and Jimmy Fallon...
and we're still hoping for a little help with our quest to cruise!
And we may just have to hit up some more folks as well!
Why?
Because we're persistent.
Because we're BLOCKHEADS, baby.
And Blockheads
NEVER GIVE UP!
(Just like Goonies never say die!)

So, what do you say, Regis and Kelly?
They were on your show. You know what kind of magic these guys still have!

Or how about you, ladies at the View?
we KNOW you understand!
You were once blockheads too!
You said it yourselves!
(I saw you girls go ga-ga over these GROWN MEN when they were on The View...
and can't really say I blame ya either!)

And if any of you are reading this for the first time, and would like to see where this all began, check out my first post on this from January 14.
And then from February 6, when I posted what some of our
friends and family had sent Ellen on our behalf.

Ok, so I think I'm done for now.
I've taken a 45 minute homework break, which is probably more than I should be,
given that it's FINALS time!

Thanks for listening.
And one final note...

We'll be lovin' you...
FOREVER.

Please don't go... BOYS!

So, it's March 19. I went to see the NKOTB concert in Nashville on March 16, and I'm still thinking about it. That's not psycho... That's how GOOD these guys are, yo! Seriously. (They even rocked their UT Vols orange and white, baby! Oh yeah!)

Maybe it's because I never got a chance to see them when I had their posters covering my walls in the 80s and 90s... I don't know.
But there's something completely MAGICAL about these shows!
And maybe I'm delusional, but I also think that these guys might actually meet us one day, and say, "Hey, you're pretty cool. We should totally hang out."
And Leslie and I will say, "Thank you. We've been thinking the same thing!"
Then I will become their backup dancer and choreographer, Leslie will be their stylist. We will have our own bus and call it the "Ooooh Baby Baby Bus." It will be AMAZING. (And I'm pretty sure it will look a little something like this...)

So... On that note. We still haven't met them. We certainly tried to see them after the Nashville show! Talked to everyone that worked the event. Hung out where the buses came out (only to discover that they ended up coming out... and Donnie stopped the bus and did a little cameo.... about 30 minutes after we decided to call it a night). Oh, the insanity!
So, if you're still feeling sorry for us... or just overcome with thoughtfulness and want to help out two girls that love NKOTB more than ever, there is still time to help us in our Ellen campaign.

(that's a picture of us at the concert on Monday!)
Now, I'm thinking Ellen appreciates a good campaign, and she also appreciates persistence. After all, it helped her get Clooney on her show. (And I'm convinced it's also gonna help her get on the cover of O Magazine!) So, if you haven't yet... or even if you have and you just feel driven to do so again... go to the following site and help us in our quest to meet NKOTB!
http://ellen.warnerbros.com/show/respond/?PlugID=10
(If you want examples of what others have sent, there is a post on this blog about that as well:
http://hello-isthisthingon-hello.blogspot.com/2009/02/our-family-and-friends-want-us-to-meet.html
Thank you guys... so much!
And Ellen, if you're reading this... NKOTB are going to be in Santa Barbara next month... we could meet them and you all in one swoop! You say it, we'll get there.
Even if we have to have bake sales and car washes to raise money for plane tickets!
